This quote made my blood boil

'Aww babies are beautiful aren't they?'
'Yeah, until they grow up and become little shits'
That was a genuine quote that I heard one woman just say to another in M&S (of all places!) The one woman was expressing how wonderful babies are and I heard such nostalgia and love in her voice, until the other woman replied.
I could not believe my ears and I felt horrifically sad. What a sad thought to have felt so strongly that you want to publicly announce that comment. I felt sad for the mother to have gone through whatever she must have done to feel that way and I felt sorry for her children who seemingly will be growing up with the same attitudes.
Here is my point. LETS BREAK THE FUCKING STIGMA. Like seriously, enough now. It all starts before you become a parent.
What if we were taught to look forward to birth instead of fear it?
And what if we also changed the story of what comes after?
It’s a question that sits at the heart of Breathe & Birth, and one that gently challenges so many of the narratives we’ve been fed since childhood. Birth is often portrayed as chaotic, terrifying, and traumatic — a scene from a movie filled with screaming, panic, and pain. Is it any wonder that so many of us carry fear into pregnancy and labour?
But birth doesn’t have to be feared. It can be calm. It can be powerful. It can even be something we look forward to.
Hypnobirthing invites a radical shift: to see birth not as something to survive, but something to experience with awareness, strength, and even joy. When we understand how our bodies work, when we’re supported with knowledge and tools, and when we are surrounded by the right people — birth becomes something entirely different. Not perfect or 'easy', but sacred. A beginning.
What if children were seen not as little “nightmares” or “terrors,” but as whole people from the start? Beautiful, intuitive extensions of ourselves. Mirrors. Teachers. Little humans trying to make sense of a big world with our help.
Too often, parenting is portrayed as a burden or a battle — full of mess, chaos, and exhaustion. And while yes, there are challenging days (and nights!), the truth is: there is so much beauty in the bond we build, in the growth we witness, and in the ways we grow, too.
What if we started with reverence instead of ridicule?
What if the jokes didn’t come at the expense of babies or birth givers, but instead celebrated the miracle of it all?
At Breathe & Birth with Casey, this is the heart of what I share. A space to unlearn fear and rediscover the magic. A space where birth is honoured. A space where parents feel seen, supported, and strong.
You deserve to approach birth with calm confidence.
You deserve to feel proud of your parenting, not ashamed or isolated.
You deserve to rewrite the story — for you, and for your baby.
And it's never too late. Mums of children older than toddlers, you can still be a part of the shift.

Honestly, my daughter is the best thing that ever happened to me and I would only use positive words to describe her, not only because I think it's right but because I truly believe it. She's absolutely incredible in every way and she has a right to know just how much I respect her. That will never change, no matter how challenging things are.
If that sounds like the kind of shift you’re craving, you’re in the right place.
While you're here, I've got a freebie for you. Copy out these affirmations on post its and stick them around your house. Remind yourself just how much you CAN DO this. This goes a hella long way!!
